ER Legislation Changes
Resource Hub
For Australian Businesses
Starting in 2022, continuing throughout 2023 and into 2025, the Australian Government has been rolling out the biggest employment relations changes we’ve seen since Fair Work was introduced in 2009.
These ER changes are mandatory and, in many instances, the compliance deadline has already passed.
That’s why we've created a series of assets to help Australian business owners and HR professionals understand what these changes mean, and what to do about them. If you need help implementing these changes in your business, please book a call and speak with an experienced member of the Employees Matters team - we're here to help!

New Laws in Effect Giving Australians the "Right to Disconnect" - ABC News Breakfast
Millions of Australians can now clock off from work without being available after hours. The new 'Right to Disconnect' laws allow employees to refuse work-related calls and emails outside their working hours unless the refusal is deemed unreasonable. This aims to limit the expectation of being constantly available, reduce the impact of the 'digital leash', and promote a healthier work-life balance.
Navigating The 'Right To Disconnect': What Australian Businesses Need To Know
The impending new ‘Right to Disconnect’ law seems certain to pass into law. The new right has been included in the second wave of the Government’s Closing Loopholes legislation which has the support of the Greens and the crossbench in the Senate and has passed the Senate. Read this article for more information on what businesses need to know in regard to this amendment.
